Now that we have the blog up and running, we've decided to use this space not only for CoSolvent Player release updates, but also to discuss related technologies and projects, particularly ones that we have found useful in the development of CoSolvent Player. BulkLoader, hosted on google code, is one such project. We use BulkLoader to handle the majority of asset loading for CoSolvent Player. We would heartily recommend it if you are looking to manage lots of asset loading in a Flash or Flex application.
CoSolvent Player makes use of BulkLoader to perform concurrent, priority based loading of AVM2 swf files, images, and flv and mp4 videos. When configuring CoSolvent Player, loading priorities may be set using the loadPriority property for a given item object. Just as if you were using BulkLoader directly, the higher the priority, the sooner the item will begin to load.
